Hand Made Excellence.
This case is one of the favorites we have made. It is a hybrid of some of
features from the best casemakers around. And to top it off the case
is hand stitched to finish it which means that it could be made without a line
of rivets to close the loop on the exterior. For this case I chose to combine
the scallop design from Instroke, use the Jay Flowers/Justis style of top and
strap, add some old world luggage handles (like Murnak uses), and borrowed the
pocket style of Dennis Swift for the upper pocket. For an added twist I designed a
case length inlay of an exceptional Sheridan Carving. The leather for the main
body is luxurious oil tan. The inlay is vegetable tanned cowhide. I am very proud of
this case as it represents our artistry, craftsmanship, flexibility and
adaptability.
The case is a 2x4
for 2 butts and 4 shafts. This case features the new JB light
weight interior. The leather covers a hard shell that is fully lined
and specially built to work just like an Instroke tube case. But it's
2lbs lighter. It is a fully lined tube case with all the protective
features that come with the tube cases I build. Moisture resistant
super soft liner that won't wear out, foam rubber to protect against
impact, industrial strength rivets at the stress points, a heavy duty
closure, and spring loaded cavities. The leather is treated to
resist soiling and liquids. It is signed "John Barton 09-2007 1 of

Hand Made:
The front of the case is hand stitched. The pockets are attached to the front
of the case with hand sewn stitches. There is no other way to make this type
of case other than to finish it by patient hand stitching.
Notice the rolled grip. It fits the hand nicely and provides a firm bond with
the great feel of the leather.
Look at the depth of carving.
This shows how
wonderful this leather is. In the picture below I have deliberately
scratched the surface on the front of the case. In the picture below that
the scratch is magically gone. Instant Photoshop for scratches. This
works because the leather has a high oil content that permeates the surface
making it pliable. Because of this scratches and stains can be pretty
much rubbed out.
Scratch On
The interior has a
little chalk on it from my cues. I get to
take each case out and show it off. My perk
as the maker :-) This interior is the
nuts, to use a pool term for those who don't
know. That means it's the best. Why? Well
it's lighter for one thing but that is not
enough. It protects from impact, some
temperature change, abrasion, and accidental
removal. The parts are kept seperate
and secure.
And that is the end of the
pictures for the Rolls Royce case. Thank you for
looking.
